FPGA-based GNSS “Search Engine” using Parallel Techniques in the Time-Domain
This paper describes an FPGA-based GNSS “Search Engine” architecture that is capable of acquiring both GPS and Galileo signals. The various GPS and Galileo signals have different frequencies and code structures which requires a design that can incorporate all of these differences. The proposed design consists of a number of multi-tap channels that are independently configurable to be searching ...
متن کاملApplication of Mixed-radix FFT Algorithms in Multi-band GNSS Signal Acquisition Engines
Due to their fast operation, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT)-based coarse signal synchronization methods are an attractive option for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver baseband signal processing. However, there are several reasons why the utility of FFT-based methods is dependent on understanding the trade-off between synchronization speed and the required processing power. Firstl...
متن کاملThe Namuru Open GNSS Research Receiver
Namuru is the name given to the open GNSS receiver research platform developed at the University of New South Wales, Australia. This paper presents the latest design details, results and achievements from the Namuru project team. The platform includes three aspects; 1) a custom circuit board, 2) baseband processor (correlator block) logic design and 3) application firmware. Both the circuit boa...
متن کاملThe UNSW/NICTA FPGA-based GPS Receiver: A Tool for GNSS Research
The new FPGA-based GPS receiver under development as a joint project by UNSW and NICTA is described. The particular advantages of an FPGA receiver are highlighted, especially those that are consistent with the future research goals of the participants: signal processing algorithms, integration with other sensors and reconfigurability.
متن کاملBridging the Gap between Compilation and Synthesis in the DEFACTO System
The DEFACTO project a Design Environment For Adaptive Computing TechnOlogy is a system that maps computations, expressed in high-level languages such as C, directly onto FPGA-based computing platforms. Major challenges are the inherent flexibility of FPGA hardware, capacity and timing constraints of the target FPGA devices, and accompanying speed-area trade-offs. To address these, DEFACTO combi...
